Restorative Implants and Teeth Replacement in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
What Are Partials?
Partials, or partial dentures, are artificial teeth used when you still maintain the majority of your natural teeth. These teeth are attached to a plastic base similar to a retainer and are worn during the daytime. Partials help to increase your confidence by enhancing and restoring your smile. They also help to prevent any natural teeth from shifting or changing position over time.
What to Expect?
It may feel a bit odd or tight at first to put in and take out partials and to work with a whole set of teeth again but with a little practice, you’ll wonder how you ever went without them. You will find, in time, that eating and speaking is much easier. As you’re adjusting, be sure to eat on both sides of your mouth and practice difficult words aloud. Never bite down or force your partials into place, you may bend or break something or even damage your teeth.
Caring for Your Partial Dentures
Just like your natural teeth, partials need a little love and care to work well and last. Be sure to clean them every day with denture cleaner or liquid dish soap and a soft bristle. When not using your partials, keep them in water or denture solution to prevent wear and to help them keep their shape. With a little regular maintenance, your partials should last for years.
